I left my book by Dr. McCandless "Children With Starving Brains" at the meeting last night. I am hoping someone took it home with them after I left? Please let me know. Terry.

The Autism Treatment Acceleration Act (ATAA) has been introduced in the house by Representatives Mike Doyle (D-PA), Chris Smith (D-NJ), Eliot Engel (D-NY), and Hank Johnson (D-GA). This is a good time to contact Congressman Mark Schauer and ask him to sign on in support.

That is great news Kristen! I'll have to look into that some more for Drew possibly. It's about time they got on board. And, thank you again for giving me the opportunity to speak the other afternoon... I wouldn't have made the connection with Judy Cerano otherwise and it sounds like she'll be great to speak with our group:)

If anyone has not heard, Saturday May 9th @ The Porter Center 1-4pm LISD will present their START Program. This will be an informative presentation about Autism. This training was put together for teachers and now is being shared with parents. There is no cost. This is our 1st step towards Parent Training.------------ I have added a link for the Walk for Autism. Please sign up or donate.

Thanks to everyone who came out to Social Saturday. It was a real nice time! The kids had fun and parents could relax a little. These keep getting bigger and better.

As you can see I've added a Calender of Events. This will help us keep up with all of the events and meetings we are having. Thanks David, Great Idea!

I am so excited to see that Lenawee County is offering support for people dealing with autism. I will share this resource with my class! :)

If anyone is interested I have located two websites: www.act-today.org (Grant Program) and www.nationalautismassociation.org (Help for Families) that has forms to fill out and mail for possible funds to assist with autistic children. You would need a printer though to print the forms. Its based on a need basis and needs to be turned in by a certain date. I tried and wanted to pass this on. Debbie
